Open Reception Centers

Open Reception Center is an on site service of Child Protection & Welfare Bureau that identifies and registers the children who are at risk in street circumstances. These registered children are provided basic education, counseling, and other services. The premise behind ORC is that the time spent by street children in the street is reduced; subsequently the exposure and harm associated with street life is also reduced. Permanent and mobile ORCs have been established at strategic locations which also act as referral points for seeking and providing information of lost, runaway or abandoned children. 2719 children have been registered at ORCs of Child Protection & Welfare Bureau in all district offices while total number of children facilitated since inception is 30, 931.
