Open Reception Center (ORC) is an on-site service of the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau (CP&WB) that identifies and registers children at risk due to street circumstances. These registered children are provided with basic education, counseling, and other essential services. The underlying objective of ORCs is to reduce the time children spend on the streets, thereby minimizing their exposure to the risks and harms associated with street life. Permanent and mobile ORCs have been established at strategic locations. These centers also serve as referral points for locating and assisting lost, runaway, or abandoned children. 2,719 children have been registered at ORCs across all district offices of CP&WB. A total of 30,931 children have been facilitated since the inception of the program.
