For rescued children who cannot be placed in a safe family environment, the Bureau has established standardized alternative care institutions. The Child Protection Institutions (CPIs), managed by the Bureau, provide residence, food, education, healthcare, psychological counseling, skills training, and recreational activities to destitute and neglected children — from the time of admission until their reunification with families. From 2004 to 2024, a total of 79,106 children have been admitted to CPIs across various district offices of the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau.
